The High Evolutionary spends the duration of Guardians Vol. After working with Iwuji as an interesting gray character role in Peacemaker, Gunn sends him into far off evil land as he plays The High Evolutionary, essentially Marvel's (more) evil version of Dr. James Gunn has called The High Evolutionary "the cruelest villain we'll ever see in the MCU" and that analysis doesn't sound too far off. Darren Cross/Yellowjacket (Corey Stoll, Ant-Man) It feels like something got a bit neutered here along the way, because while what we got is good, it feels like this could have been great. He doesn't really do much god butchering at all! Bale is great in what we get to see him do-it's just not all that much. The problem, however, is that Love and Thunder doesn't really let Gorr the God Butcher live up to his name. But not the worst reasoning we've ever heard. Goes about it the wrong way, don't get us wrong. He delivers lines like the words are bleeding from his mouth, and, like most of the best villains on this list, his motivations aren't half bad. Whether MCU always executed what they set out to, well, is something we'll get to in just a little bit. And that's why the MCU has, for better or for worse, made villains that always are worthy of matching up with our heroes. But when you have a franchise of movies centered around around super-powered (in one way or another) people trying to do the right thing, the natural balance of storytelling is always going to need to have someone doing the wrong thing-someone doing something they'll need to stop.
