Open range ogallala1/15/2024 ![]() ![]() ![]() Water stops and supply stores were located along the route in Oklahoma and Southern Kansas. That year cowboys, primarily from Texas, started arriving in Ogallala to sell their cattle.Īs cattle arrived, the route was named The Texas Trail or Great Western Cattle Trail. This secured Ogallala’s role as a railhead for trail herds. In 1874, the Union Pacific constructed cattle pens and loading chutes just outside of town. By 1873, the population stood at 25, and the town had a few rough buildings. Aufdengarten opened a general store and saloon while the Lonergans had a clothing store. The following year, former railroad workers, brothers Tom and Philip Lonergan, and merchant and outfitter Louis Aufdengarten decided to set up businesses catering to soldiers, trappers, buffalo hunters, and a few cattlemen. To protect settlers, the United States Army stationed soldiers every few miles, usually along railroad sidings. This led to Indian hostilities, particularly from the Sioux. Ogallala, consisted of only a water tower and a section house along the tracks near the South Platte River.Īs the area started development, buffalo hunters soon decimated the herds that had roamed the area for centuries. In 1867, when it became a “tank town” for the Union Pacific. When the Transcontinental Railroad was completed, stops were required every few miles as trains made their way across the continent. Today’s visitors find Tri-Trails Park, Boot Hill, Front Street, and Mansion on the Hill serving as reminders of its fascinating history. However, it was the cattle drives between 18 that gave this small town the boost it needed and its reputation as “Queen of the Cow Towns.” At its peak, it had more cattle moving through than Dodge City, Kansas. After the fur trappers, gold seekers and homesteaders in the 1840's passed through the area on the California, Oregon, and Mormon Trails. ![]() The Pawnee and Sioux Indians were the first to discover the territory around Ogallala. ![]()

Peugeot 206 oil in coolant tank1/15/2024 ![]() ![]() What to do if you have Oil in the Coolant Reservoir? This type of problem leaves you stranded on the side of the road with no one to call for help.īlown cylinder head gasket. If there are any cracks or broken areas in this part it will start to leak oil into the coolant system as well as antifreeze into the engine oil. The head gasket simply keeps your engine from leaking fluids out of their respective areas. ![]() If there are any cracks or faulty tubes in this heat exchange it could allow for small amounts of engine oil to mix with the antifreeze inside your cooling system.įinally, the fifth and most common cause is a damaged head gasket. This part is usually found in newer cars and it takes any engine oil that makes its way into your coolant, collects it, and then routes this oil back to your engine where it belongs. The fourth cause is the oil/coolant heat exchange. This creates lots of issues for people as they constantly have to stop, manually put their car into park and restart. The danger behind this type of mix is that the engine oil can make it impossible to shift from gear to gear correctly in an automatic car. If this part becomes damaged or if it leaks then engine oil could mix with the automatic transmission fluid and create a very dangerous mix. The transmission cooler is what cools the fluid inside your automatic transmission. The third cause is faulty transmission fluid cooler lines. Does daisuke amaya hate nicalis1/15/2024 ![]() ![]() Going in without bias, though, and without nostalgic attachment to the PC version, it's hard to complain about the new style. While obviously inspired by the visuals of the 2004 version, the new graphics are completely reworked, and will undoubtedly be polarizing to fans of the original. A majority of the new content comes in the presentation, which has been built from scratch for the 3DS. But just because it leans heavily on others in the genre doesn’t mean it doesn’t come with some of its own contributions.Ībove: Check out the Full Access Preview we did for the game to see the different visual styles in motionīut most of this already existed when the game was released seven years ago, and is hardly unique to Cave Story 3D. It has a classic feel that's reminiscent of games like Super Metroid and Castlevania, feeling at many times like an unabashed love letter to the genre with a focus on smart platforming and fast-paced 2D combat. Even though it's been remade a number of times since Pixel developed the PC version in his free time it's barely ever been modified at all, and that’s because very little needed to change for Cave Story 3D to be great. Much more important is the gameplay, which has barely changed at all since its release in 2004. Though the story is fun, it's only a small part of the reason that Cave Story is so fantastic. It doesn't have an incredibly strong story, but what's there is interesting, and it ends up pulling on heartstrings we didn't expect it to go for, with interesting characters and surprising turns. In other news, there is a home-brew effort, with blessings from pixel, to port the game to the Nintendo DS.Players assume the role of a robotic soldier with no memory, thrown underground into a strange world filled with creatures called Mimigas. Nintendo even denied Variant a development kit for the DS. Firstly there is confusion as to whether pixel is being paid, whether pixel authorized it, and if this company is capable of porting the game. However, many fans, inculding myself feel a bit iffy about this publisher. There is news (old) that a very new publisher called variant is working to port cave story to the PSP with updated visuals. I have no idea how some guys can do speed runs with 3 HP. I mastered the Hell level in the end, and just scraped through with 10 HP left after the final fight. My problem was that I could never reach the final bonus boss with enough health to survive. It took me a while, but I just managed to beat Hell. The game features flawless gameplay, a very memorable story, perfect visuals based on chosen style and resources available, and an excellent sound track as demonstrated by some of the remixes on OCR. The screen shot above does not do the game justice. It has been hailed by many fans as the best freeware game of 2004 at least to the best freeware game ever made. It's a 2D Side-Shooter in the vein of metroid and castlevania. Well for those who are going "Doukutsu what?":Ĭave Story is a freeware game that was released in 2004, after 5 years of development, by a Japanese guy who goes by the handle Pixel. As the game is amazing, and there is no thread for it. Well the game has been out for a while, but I only just got into it. ![]()

Ranking loki episodes1/14/2024 ![]() ![]() There's a vanity to his actions that we haven't seen much of in the MCU in a while. ![]() Iwuji plays the character with a conceited, confident evil. High Evolutionary here-is going to have hell to pay. But now that they're a family? Whoever's fucked with him in the past or present-Mr. 3 experimenting on innocent creatures (and, presumably, himself), and is just a general sociopathic sicko.īut where his evil really shines through is the fact that he's being deployed in the third installment of the Guardians franchise earlier in the MCU timeline, perhaps Quill, Nebula, Drax, and the rest of the gang wouldn't care so much about what happened to Rocket. The High Evolutionary spends the duration of Guardians Vol. After working with Iwuji as an interesting gray character role in Peacemaker, Gunn sends him into far off evil land as he plays The High Evolutionary, essentially Marvel's (more) evil version of Dr. James Gunn has called The High Evolutionary "the cruelest villain we'll ever see in the MCU" and that analysis doesn't sound too far off. Darren Cross/Yellowjacket (Corey Stoll, Ant-Man) It feels like something got a bit neutered here along the way, because while what we got is good, it feels like this could have been great. He doesn't really do much god butchering at all! Bale is great in what we get to see him do-it's just not all that much. The problem, however, is that Love and Thunder doesn't really let Gorr the God Butcher live up to his name. But not the worst reasoning we've ever heard. Goes about it the wrong way, don't get us wrong. He delivers lines like the words are bleeding from his mouth, and, like most of the best villains on this list, his motivations aren't half bad. When Bale is on screen as Gorr-his skin powder white and scarred everywhere, eyes sometimes glowing all sorts of wrong colors in the darkness-everything else stops. While Thor: Love and Thunder basically feels, in many ways, like a redux, slightly-lesser version of Thor: Ragnarok, the film largely holds its own in the villain category-with one caveat. Malekith (Christopher Eccleston, Thor: The Dark World) So, without further ado, here's the complete ranking of the villains in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films. Some movies do have multiple villains, but they all tend to be characters with a distinctly outlined agenda. It's a tricky line to draw, but it had to be done somewhere. One more qualifier: this list is sort of subjectively chosen, but we tended to want to keep it to villains who felt significant within the context of their film. At least not yet those characters could eventually make this list, or perhaps a Disney+ version of this list, but for now we're keeping this selection to the big screen baddies. We're not including the villains from any of the Disney+ series, which would include Wyatt Russell's John Walker and Ethan Hawke's Arthur Harrow. And that's just a taste.Ī qualifiers before we dive back in. Jordan, Jonathan Majors), and Academy Award Winners ( Cate Blanchett and Christian Bale). The MCU has pulled for these roles from the ranks of Hollywood royalty (Robert Redford, Kurt Russell), young burgeoning megastars ( Michael B. If someone wants to play a superhero movie villain? Well, more often than not, that's going to be one of the most fun roles-it's fun to be bad-and only going to last the duration of one shoot. Sure, it's cool to be the hero they get all of the glory and the fandom. The role of a villain in an MCU movie is almost always the juiciest. Whether MCU always executed what they set out to, well, is something we'll get to in just a little bit. And that's why the MCU has, for better or for worse, made villains that always are worthy of matching up with our heroes. But when you have a franchise of movies centered around around super-powered (in one way or another) people trying to do the right thing, the natural balance of storytelling is always going to need to have someone doing the wrong thing-someone doing something they'll need to stop. There are a lot of movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. ![]()

Atlanta journal constitution norcross ga1/14/2024 ![]() Voting rights advocates say that’s partially by design. Gwinnett’s Board of Commissioners, meanwhile, remains strictly Republican - and white. Hillary Clinton’s Gwinnett win in November’s presidential election was the first for a Democrat since Jimmy Carter in 1976. In September, state data suggested that, for the first time in modern history, white voters were no longer the majority in county. Gwinnett has been a majority-minority county, meaning non-white residents make up more than half of its population, since 2010. But it struck an especially large nerve in Gwinnett County, a community that’s one of the most diverse in Georgia. The commissioner’s social media activity - which also included referring to Democrats as “Demonrats,” using the word “libtard” and at least one other racially tinged comment - was divisive in and of itself. He apologized for his poor “choice of words” on Tuesday. The “racist pig” post was written Saturday afternoon amid a well-publicized feud between Lewis and president-elect Donald Trump. Hunter became the center of controversy on Monday after The Atlanta Journal-Constitution published screenshots of several posts on his personal Facebook page. But in 2018, two other commission seats will be up for grabs. “And that will be in readiness for 2018.” “You’re going to see us contesting very, very strongly this year in the municipal elections, something that hasn’t been done before,” said Gabe Okoye, who took over this month as chairman of the Gwinnett County Democratic Party. But many now say Hunter’s words - and the furor they’ve whipped up - have served as a wake-up call. Groups like Cho’s, the NAACP and the Georgia Association of Latino Elected Officials already work to promote better representation of their respective communities. “Because that is the face of Gwinnett now.” “We want to see more people that are underrepresented, women, people of color, immigrants, be in these positions,” said Cho, the executive director of the Atlanta branch of Asian Americans Advancing Justice, a nonpartisan advocacy group. Rufous hummingbird predators1/14/2024 ![]() Particular plants include birch trees, butterfly bushes, and honey locusts. As often as every 15 minutes, they look for a place to rest on trees and shrubs with small leaves. The long flights and wing-beating can make a hummingbird weary. Hummingbirds have a very high metabolic rate, with heart rate of 1,260 beats per minute and breaths of 250 times per minute. When hummingbirds are arriving in the north, they are sometimes confronted with unusually cold weather and will enter into a hypothermic torpor to survive. They consume 10 times per gram of muscle tissue than the most elite among human athletes, marathoners and cross-country skiers. They burn all additional weight when crossing the Gulf of Mexico. Cornell University scientists report that in preparation for such flights, they double their body weight with nectar and insects. Only the Ruby-throated Hummingbird is found east of the Mississippi. In North America, the greatest number and variety of hummingbirds can be found in western areas of the United States and as far north as Alaska. In the fall, they return to their southern homes.
